![]() ![]() He has traded in a life of crime, including moon thievery and other hijinks, for a more sedate occupation. The Russian-accented Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) is a very different villain than when we last saw him. ![]() Once again, they tickle movie fans big and small, and they very nearly run off with this sequel. The little yellow torpedoes warmed hearts when they shuffled into 2010's animated hit "Despicable Me" with the bounciness of a beach ball, the elasticity of a rubber band and a vernacular composed mostly of giggles. "Despicable Me 2" – The minions are back. Also, on "Blu-ray": extended version commentary by Diesel, Walker, Rodriguez and Lin behind-the-scenes footage "Planes, Tanks and Automobiles" four-part featurette a look at the cars showcased in the film, and a separate featurette on the pivoting FLIP car a detailed close-up of rehearsals, choreography, stunt work that went into the fight sequences. Extras include commentary with director Justin Lin deleted scenes four-part making-of featurette and an on the set visit with Diesel. Contains intense sequences of violence and action and mayhem throughout, some sexuality and strong language. Because, you know, everyone else in the FBI is kind of busy, and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges is way better at tracking intel using high-tech equipment. FBI agent Luke Hobbs, played by Dwayne Johnson, concludes that the only way to stop Shaw is by recruiting the now-wealthy-and-off-the-grid crew led by the love of Letty's life, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). Michelle Rodriguez's Letty Ortiz, supposedly murdered in the fourth chapter of this never-ending smashy-crashy story, is actually alive and apparently working for a nefarious former SAS officer/terrorism enabler named Shaw. ![]() Capsule reviews of the this week's video releases, on DVD and Blu-ray, including special features: "Fast & Furious 6" – The "Fast and the Furious" movies will always be about hot cars that get into epic accidents action sequences that defy the laws of physics as well as rational thought and precariously assembled plotlines that aren't really that important anyway. ![]()
